Last month, the firm was audited by Lexcel as part of maintaining the quality mark for client care, compliance and practice management. Lexcel is The Law Society of England and Wales' accreditation, designed to recognise law firms committed to legal excellence.

First launched in 1998, the Lexcel accreditation is a sign of quality, showcasing firms’ commitment to sound practice management, trust and integrity.

 Lexcel supports practices to:

Our assessment rewarded 14 areas of good practice; this year, there was a particular focus on firm culture. The auditor said:

“The firm has carried out a staff survey, which has helped inform its approach to hybrid working. Regular social events are planned throughout the year to bring staff together in person, in addition to a very structured approach to weekly meetings and team days. Staff needs are considered on an ongoing basis.

“Internal audits monitor and measure how the training is received, and the outcomes are overwhelmingly positive with particular comments about how practical examples relating to the firm's work are beneficial. The firm also presents clear and comprehensive evidence of its policy and documents review process.”

Hugh Jones Solicitors managing director, Liz Hughes, commented: “We’re incredibly proud of the assessment outcome. As a firm that always endeavours to do our best for our people and clients, such recognition is truly valuable.

“First-class client care is a given for us – it’s what we live and breathe – but we also work exceptionally hard to foster a culture of collaboration, support and encouragement, and it’s fantastic that this doesn’t go unnoticed.”
