As 2025 comes to an end, we wanted to take a moment to look back at what’s been a fantastic year for the firm. It’s been a time of real growth and recognition, and we’re proud of our brilliant team – their hard work, commitment, and expertise have shone through, and there’s a lot to be celebrated. Here’s a quick look back at some of our highlights from the past year.
Legal Directories Rankings
This year, we were once again pleased to be recognised by The Legal 500, one of the leading guides to the best law firms and solicitors worldwide. The Legal 500’s rankings are based on client feedback, so it’s also a big boost to the trust and confidence they have in us, and we’re proud to be ranked in Band 1 for ‘personal tax, trusts and probate’.
Alongside our Legal 500 recognition, we landed excellent rankings in the 2026 Chambers and Partners Guide. Chambers is another top directory that highlights the best legal talent through thorough, in-depth research. We’re ranked in Band 2 for ‘Court of Protection: Property & Affairs’, and Hugh Jones and Liz Hughes have also received individual recognition.
OPG Panel Appointment
One of the real stand-out moments from 2025 was our appointment by the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG), and we’re absolutely delighted that Hugh Jones Trust Corporation Limited has been selected for the OPG’s panel of deputies. This appointment commences on 1 January 2026, and will run for a 10 year tenure.
The OPG panel is made up of trusted, highly skilled professionals approved to manage the finances and property of people who can’t do so themselves. Being appointed to the panel demonstrates our expertise in this specialist area. Hugh Jones himself has been a panel deputy for many years, and this new appointment means we’ll continue that important work for years to come.
Reflecting on this milestone, Hugh Jones said, “It has been a privilege to serve as a panel deputy for so long. While I have chosen not to renew my personal appointment, I am delighted that Hugh Jones Trust Corporation Limited will continue this important work. This appointment reflects our firm’s commitment to providing the highest standard of support to vulnerable individuals and their families.”
Lexcel Audit
Our latest Lexcel audit also proved our commitment to quality and best practice. Lexcel is the Law Society’s own quality mark, and maintaining it requires an in-depth assessment every year. We were thrilled with the feedback we received.
The auditor said, ‘Sixteen areas of good practice were identified during the assessment. This is a high number of good practice points and really shows the firm’s ongoing commitment to quality.’
